TAU CROSSES $5.00 EA

These crosses are of one piece construction and are available in 8 different wood types. They come with an adjustable cotton cord. The Tau Cross was an implement of deadly torture used by the Romans in Palestine during the first century. This style of cross is believed to be the type used to crucify Jesus. The Roman style cross, like the one more commonly seen in popular jewelry, did not come into Christian symbolism until after the 1st century. The Tau Cross represents a more historic and accurate representation of the cross on which Christ would have been crucified. Saint Francis accepted and adapted the "T" as his own crest and signature. For him, it represented life-long fidelity to the Passion of Christ. It was his pledge to serve the least, the leper and outcast of his day.
